Established in 1975, Bug Music combines highly personalized service with the most advanced technology in order to maximize copyright protection and collection efforts for its clients. In addition Bug employs an international team of creative personnel to provide exposure for some of the best popular music ever written. In 2007, Bug Music acquired the renowned Windswept Music and Trio/Quartet catalogs, bringing us to a total of some 250,000 copyrights which now include such gems as 'Fever', 'What a Wonderful World', 'I Walk the Line', 'Summer in the City', 'The Real Slim Shady', 'Stormy Weather', 'Who Are You?', 'Under the Boardwalk' and 'Lust for Life' to name but a handful. Our clients include the estates of such esteemed musical luminaries as Johnny Cash, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Woody Guthrie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In keeping with that tradition, we also represent some of today's modern musical masters, such as Pete Townshend, Iggy Pop, Ryan Adams, Wilco, The Guess Who and Jamie Foxx. Our offices are located in Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, London and Munich. Dan Bourgoise, the founder of Bug Music always had a passion for music and the industry. As a teenager, Dan had already launched his own music publishing companies in his native Detroit, prior to moving to Los Angeles to work for United Artists. By 1975, Dan decided to start Bug Music to manage the music copyrights and career of his friend, Del Shannon, best known for his 1961 hit song 'Runaway'. During an exciting time in the Los Angeles music scene, Dan had access to the hottest clubs, managers, reviewers, artists, record companies and hardcore music fans. Together with his brother Fred, who came over from Tower Records in 1977, the 'Bug Brothers' not only shared a common passion for the industry, but also the belief in putting the interests of their artists and clients before anything else. Their close attention to service and building enduring relationships set Bug Music apart from the typical large music publishing company. More than thirty years later, that ethos still drives Bug Music and its 75 employees around the world.
